In 2020, the book proposal project for Dearest New York began when author, Deirdre Gartner, reached out to me to design and execute her vision for her first book idea. Elated about the project, we worked together to package The Little Book About The Big Apple book proposal for publisher inquiries, a 45-page sample of the book which she hoped to share with the world. Her unique perspective of New York is exemplified throughout the book, via her timeless photographs, inspiring recommendations, surprising historical fun facts, and personal selection of artists' illustrations. The author commissioned several NYC-themed illustrations from myself and other, extremely talented, artists Tracey Berglund and Katie Woodward. When the author sent out the proposal to publishers, the project was almost immediately purchased—a behind-the-scenes look at the proposal, below. The final book, which will be on sale October 15, 2023, was created with so much love, hope, and excitement for New York City.
